Lac La Biche Victim Services consists of a volunteer Board of Directors, a full time Program Coordinator and an Assistant Coordinator, one part time Court Support Worker and Administrative Assistant, an RCMP Liaison Officer, and a team of dedicated volunteer Advocates.
Our volunteer Board of Directors provides program governance, while our volunteer Advocates provide front-line support to victims of crime and tragedy.
Since Advocates interact directly with victims, the RCMP, and other community agencies, in order to volunteer they are required to successfully complete an in-depth application process. They must pass an application and interview process with the program staff as well as pass an enhanced-security clearance from the RCMP. They also need to pass the government on-line training course, and sign a one-year commitment with the unit.
The training which the Advocates receive through both the government and the unit gives them the necessary tools and skills to work effectively in their role with victims. Not only is it rewarding, but the experience looks great on a resume!
